“The cruise market continues to bolster the overall performance of our tourism sector and calls for continued focus as an opportunity for sustained growth”, says Patricia Lyall, Destination Halifax President and CEO. “The Halifax experience is rooted in authenticity and starts at the point of first impression with the warm welcome received upon arrival at the Cruise Pavilion. Augmented by the depth and variety of all there is to see and do throughout the region, guests are left wanting more which is prime to enticing a return visit to Nova Scotia.”
Destination Halifax estimates that 8% of all tourists visiting Halifax are cruise passengers. The economic impact is estimated to be $50 million from passenger, crew, and cruise lines to our local area.

2010 cruise season highlights include:
- 2 new cruise lines calling the Port of Halifax, which brings a total of 21 cruise lines.
- 9 inaugural calls of new cruise ships calling the Port of Halifax for the first time
