Four modes represented on the Council (air, sea, road, rail) already employ directly and indirectly almost 27,000 people in Greater Halifax, with a payroll topping $1 billion, and total economic impact of $3.7 billion per year.
One of three "official" Gateway Councils in Canada, the other two being the Greater Vancouver Gateway Council and the Sourthern Ontario Gateway Council.
Two major studies completed in 2005, a Strategic Plan and an Economic Impact study. A subsequent Vision and Action Plan document was developed.
